We have such a multicultural society, especially here in Dallas. The opportunity is in our own backyards to minister to the needs of others and bring the love and teachings of Christ into their lives. When we are confronted with ourself and self interests, our fears and mistrusting of others, we should deliberately look to the needs of others, especially those we consider possible enemies, through prayer, reaching out, helping, serving.
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." - Philippians 2:4 (NAS)
"I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke 2:27-28 (NAS)
Pray for
- Former Muslims who risk their life to reach out as Christians, including Kamal and Victoria Saleem and Koome Ministries
- Local ministries that reach out to those from other countries in this north Dallas community, which include those led by Jalil Dawood (pastor of the Arab Church of Dallas) (jdawood@aim.com) and Vinay Patras (leader of the local ministry of International Students Inc.) (vinaypatras@tx.rr.com)

subject Christ Church:Mission Prayer
Dear Friends,
So much has happened since I last e-mailed prayer requests. God is always doing so much!
International student ministry is off to a great start. We have attended 3 meetings in Feb. with over 15 different people participating at the International Christian Fellowship events at UTD on Friday nights. We are currently watching Lee Stroebel's The Case for Christ. After the presentation we sit around tables and discuss. The first question we were supposed to answer was, "Do you believe there is a God?" and the second question was, "Are you interested in spiritual things?"
One fellow answered that he was still not sure there was a God. He said that he just couldn't figure out how God was created. A PhD student from China who was not a believer said that in mathematics you start with a definition and then you work out the hypotheses and theorems to explain the definition (or something like that!). He said, "I guess that is similar with God, you just have to start with 'God is' and work from there."
In response to the second question one young man that he was very interested in spiritual things because, "IF there is a God, I want Him to be my friend."
The other ministry that I want to tell you about is "The Missio." Kathy and Keiichi Stevens have started a new ministry at the Vista Buena apartments in Dallas near 75 and 635. They meet on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons to provide these children and youth Christian ministry. You will be hearing more about it. We pray that many at Christ Church will be led to help with the teaching, snacks, after school mentoring program etc.
I appreciate your prayers so much for these and the other ministries of the mission department at Christ Church.
Prayer requests:
1.Please pray for international students at UTD that they will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
2.Please pray for Keiichi and Kathy Stevens as they lead the ministry to the Hispanic youth and children in the Vista Buena area. Please pray for the students that they would come to know Christ and grow in godliness. Pray that they will be able to resist temptation and stay close to God.
3.Please pray for 50 Bibles to be provided for The Mission.
4. Please pray for the mission teams that are recruiting for members and are training their teams:
Susan Kerr- Casas Hogares Mission Arequipa, Peru
Marsha and Bruce Kostus- Guatemala Stove Building/Evangelism
Aaron Baker, Rosalie Mayo and Daniel Atkinson- Guatemala Stove/Evangelism
Matt Bomberger- New Orleans
Dave Coveney- Peru Construction/Evangelism
Varita Michell, Debi Newman- Peru Women's Retreat.
5. Please continue to pray for Bishop Godfrey and Judith. Please pray for complete healing for the Bishop.
Thanks so much for your faithful prayers.
Peace, Varita
